I am dedicated to providing a comprehensive counseling program guided by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) and the Texas Counseling Association (TCA) models.

  • The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) supports school counselors' efforts to help students focus on academic, career and social/emotional development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.  https://www.schoolcounselor.org/
  • The Texas Counseling Association (TCA) Model outlines a process for tailoring school counseling programs to meet the varying needs of students in school districts across Texas. With new organization, competencies, domains, strategies and tools, the 5th Edition of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs has been updated to reflect best practices and statutory requirements for school counseling programs.  https://txca.org/

The vision of the Wells ISD Counseling Department is to inspire, empower and develop confident students with academic, interpersonal and social-emotional skills that will contribute to their community as compassionate, successful and productive individuals.
The mission of the Wells ISD Counseling Department is to implement a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program in grades PreK-12 by collaborating with staff, families, and the community to ensure all students have the tools to reach their full potential. We foster an inclusive and safe learning environment that provides social emotional growth for successful academic achievement that supports the transition to post-secondary readiness.
Our comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program model covers these strands:
  • Self-confidence development
  • Goal setting & motivation to achieve
  • Decision making & responsible behavior
  • Conflict resolution & problem solving
  • College, career, & military planning
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Cross-cultural effectiveness
The Wells ISD Guidance and Counseling approach is developmental and solution focused. Students have an opportunity to learn more about themselves and others in advance of problem moments in their lives beginning in PK. They learn interpersonal skills before a crisis arises. If a situation does occur, we will work together using a solution focused approach.  For more information on solution focused counseling, click here.

Our Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Model is implemented in all our schools (PK-12). A Comprehensive Counseling Program is based upon student competencies, built upon a developmental curriculum, uses crisis and preventive counseling, and has four components outlined by the American School Counseling Model and the Texas Education Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Model:

Guidance Curriculum
Individual Planning
Responsive Service
System Support
